Ladie's Altar Society

St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society is an organization of Catholic women 18 years or older.  St. Ann, Mother of Mary and Grandmother of Jesus is our Patron Saint.  She is also the Patron Saint of widowers.  The Rosary is recited at all bi-monthly meetings, usually followed by a covered dish meal.  Fundraisers allow students to attend Faith Formation Classes and Vacation Bible School at no cost.  The Ladies Altar Society plan outings to religious locations.  We have an annual Christmas Party in December, with food, games and gifts but no meeting.

In the Old Testament (Exodus) God gave specific instructions on how to construct the Temple in which His People, the Jews, were to assemble to offer sacrifice, praise and worship to Him.  God, also, instructed who and how they were to serve in the functions of the Temple.

The Holy Spirit in the New Testament instructs Jesus' followers to assemble (Hebrews 10:25) to praise and worship Jesus, our Lord and Savior.  The First followers of Jesus assembled in homes to worship Jesus (Acts 2:46) and the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42) as he had instructed (Luke 22:19).  Day by day the number of believers in Jesus grew making it necessary for larger meeting places.

In today's world we have evolved to churches in which we assemble to worship God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit.  Our churches still need those to carry out the functions associated with our assembling to worship God

The Ladies Altar Society responds to carrying out the lait's functions associated with our celebration of Mass in the following ways:

  • Provides and cleans all Altar Cloths.
  • Provides and cleans all Vessels used for Eucharist Celebration.
  • Provides all Altar Candles.
  • Cleans the Church.
  • Provides Evangelical materials, etc, (One Bread One Body Booklets).
  • Special requests of the Parish Priest.
  • Assist in the Annual Fatima Rosary.
  • Provides desserts for the Holy Name Steak Supper.
  • Organize and work the St. Joseph Altar, March 19th each year.  All donations collected from the St. Joseph Altar are donated to local needy Families and Local Charities.
  • Organize and work our yearly fundraisers (LAS Tea).  All money raised by our fundraisers are used to pay for expenses incurred to meet the above needs in caring for St. Joseph Catholic Church.

It is humbling privilege to serve God by caring for His House.

LAS meeting are regularly held on the first Tuesday of each month (if a change is made, you will be notified).

Please come and join us, it will bless your soul!
