Baptism

St. Joseph Parish is a faith-filled community sharing in the mission of the Church to evangelize the nations. At the heart of evangelization is the essential sacrament of baptism. By baptism we are no longer a child of this world but a child of God. The life of grace and Spirit is received through the sacrament of baptism. In this first of the sacraments of initiation, the priest or deacon presider, consecrates the newborn child before all the heavenly hosts to the divine life of God. Pope Francis calls for all children to be baptized. Here at St. Joseph's Church we are ready to work with you for the baptism of your child.

Guidelines for Baptism:
  • Children of all ages may receive baptism.

  • The parents of the child must intend to raise the child in the Catholic faith.

  • A mandatory baptismal class is attended.

  • Godparents are any baptized Catholic who has received the sacrament of Confirmation.

Families are strongly encouraged to attend the Sunday 10:00 AM Mass and sit toward the front of the Church. Father will announce the family of the child to be baptized in the prayers of intercession.

Either Deacon Jeff Pitre or Fr. Joseph Tregre can be requested as the presider of baptism. Unless otherwise requested, Dcn. Pierre will preside.
